Gods and Goddess' of Ancient Egypt

Amun-Ra

Amun Appearance:

Amun was one of the most powerful gods in ancient Egypt. At the height of Egyptian civilization he was called the 'King of the Gods'.



Amun was important throughout the history of ancient Egypt. However, when Amun was combined with the sun god Ra he was even more powerful. He was then called Amun-Ra.

Osiris

Osiris – Mummiform, scep;ter and flagellum white crown with plumes and horns/ dying god of vegetation: ruler of netherworld.  For lightness – to be connected with the angels

Isis

Isis -       Woman, often heiroglyph of her name on her head / member of Heliopolitan ennead : wife of Osiris, guardian and magician  Emotional cases – love, unconnected - -highest pure love

Ra  (Ra Harakhty)

Sun-disk on head, hawk-headed, sun god identified with harakhty and the primeval crator god Atum as Ra Harakhty-Atum, often linked with other gods (Amonre, etc.) Heliopolis, as a state god of the new kingdom worshipped at many other places. The greatest highest powers – the essence gives powers and light.

Hathor

Some gods had different roles in different parts of Egypt, Hathor, goddess of love, music, and dance, was shown as a woman or a cow.  In the Delta she was associated with the sky and held the sun between her horns.  In Thebes she was a goddess of death.  Highest, highest healing


Maat

The basic low of the universe justice, truth, and order-were represented by the goddess Maat.  Her name meant straight.  She wore the feather of truth on her head.  Is often shown as a doll, held by the sun god Ra. – clear up your heart from fear and consciousness problems


Horus

(Has various local forms, eg. Horus Nekheny) Hawk headed or hawk, often with double crown/sky god, the earliest state god of Egypt, closely connected with king. Member of Heliopolitan ennead son of Osiris and Isis. – totally highest protection of any bad spirits.


Nut

(see Geb)  Geb, Shu and Nut - -are Members of Heliopolitian ennead; deities of earth (Geb) air and light (Shu) and sky (nut) – Mothers nature of the earth, frititlity and life giving preganancy care and lifecare as well


Thoth

Many gods were associated with animals.  For example.  Thoth, the god of writing and wisdom, was deplicted as an ibis, a bird that the Egyptians thought was wise.  Here he is shown as an ibis headed man writing with a scribe’s pen and palette. – Powers of Knowledge, understand, being satisfied with you highest soul


Geb

Geb, Shu and Nut - -are Members of Heliopolitian ennead; deities of earth (Geb) air and light (Shu) and sky (nut) – Father of the Goddess – powers of eternity of life. Controlling and connection with all you lives.  Symbol of the soul retrieval.


Nephthys
